Focus: Operations/Maintenance This intermediate-level course has been designed to offer the student a comprehensive understanding of the theory of four-cycle gas engines. The course begins with a brief review of components specific to four-cycle engines and how they differ from those used in two-cycle gas engines. This is followed by a basic introduction to combustion theory and the natural gas laws. After instruction in these important concepts the course proceeds to describe the two-stroke cycle process in detail through the use of P-V and P-T diagrams and animations. Review questions and interactive activities throughout the course will help prepare the student for the final examination.
